Iowa Hunting & Fishing Regulations

Iowa State Hunting and Fishing Regulations

Iowa is best known for its big white-tailed deer, and due to its mild winters and large food source, these big deer are abundant in number. Hunters can also take their chance at turkey in the Spring and Fall, as well as furbearers including bobcat, red and gray fox, coyote, beaver, otter, mink, muskrat, weasel, striped skunk, raccoon, and opossum. For bird hunters, Iowa is home to duck, merganser, coot, geese, teal, dove, snipe, rail, and woodcock.

Iowa has many streams, rivers, lakes, ponds, and reservoirs that are home to various species of fish such as walleye, smallmouth and largemouth bass, blue catfish, sauger, crappie, and bluegill.
