New York Hunting & Fishing Regulations

NY State Hunting and Fishing Regulations

While most people may think of the concrete jungle at the mention of the Empire State, hunting is one of the most popular outdoor activities in New York. With over 40 species to choose from, there is no shortage of options. From big game species such as white-tailed deer, black bear, and turkey, to waterfowl and furbearer species, hunters will run out of time before running out of options.

With over 7,500 lakes and ponds and 70,000 miles of coastline, New York offers both excellent freshwater and saltwater fishing. New York also offers ice fishing during the cold winter months. Popular catches in the state include largemouth and smallmouth bass, brook and brown trout, Pacific salmon, striped bass, flounder, and bluefish.
